Help to identify EDDY MERCKX

Retro Newbie
Hi,
I would like some help identifying my old bike that I bought second hand around 1977. Any details such as model, history etc would be appreciated. It is a blue EDDY MERCKX, with 88044 stamped on the cranckcase. I put the larger mud guards on, but still have the original small (about 6" long) aluminium ones.
Thanks

It just looks like a sticker job to me sorry , unless it's a falcon made "under licence" job

It's one of the Falcon ones made under licence. Basically one of their low-end models with a different set of transfers. Apart from the name, no connection whatsoever with the great man's own ranges.

As mentioned it's a Falcon from the 70's, we used to sell them. Also available in Orange :). The Carlton Flyer type lugs were typical of the Falcon's.

Faslcon also made a fully Campag equipped version at the top of their Merckx range.

Re:

I had one of those. My first new bike and the one that hooked me on cycling. Bought it in early 1976 I think. Would love another.
Falcon made.
What size wheels does yours have?

Re:

Hi,
so what are the Falcons worth, if I was considering selling it? I think some went on ebay for up to £150 in poorer condition, but is there a better place to sell it?

Re:

Spotted this one in Portugal, the slightly lesser known Edwina Merckx me thinks :D
