Newbie needs help identifying early 90's Bike

Retro Newbie
Hi everybody,
I have been reading this great forum for a long time, mostly with regard to some retro bikes I own(ed): '91 Wheeler 7700, '97 Kona Lava Dome, '93 Cannondale M800, '95 Wheeler 9000...
Yesterday I bought three "new" bikes from a lost property sale: '92 Trek 8700 composite, '91 Diamond Back Apex and an Aluminium Bike without any decals, complete XT 7-speed group, Araya RM-17 rims etc.
Can anyone help me identify what it is and if it is worth restoring?

The colour seems somewhat blueish, the tires are Ritchey Megabite, the stem and Seatpost are no-name Taiwan products...

Not the best pic of that frame number. Is it M21100027 ? If it starts just with 'M' it is somewhat unusual.
It's also relatively uncommon to have it on the side of the seat tube.

I will look that up again, but I think it is as you wrote above, M and eight digits. By googling I found no brand with that location of the s/n.

28.6mm is stamped on the stem, that would be an 1 1/8" fork thats on the bike. Could be an early Trek, some Trek frame builds were made/welded by different subcontractors. "The other place Trek (or their subcontractors) stamped the SN is at the lower end of the seat tube"
