I found this Orbit 531c frame on the bay and took pity on it.
Trouble is I don't know which Orbit model it is or it's age,
I'm just guessing it's an Orbit Pro from very late 80's - early 90's.
Hopefully someone on here has a better idea and can help me pin it down.
I threw some wheels on it to see what it looks like. Those 28mm tyres only just go in at the rear. The frame has mudguard eyes.
It's been mistreated by being badly over-painted twice and having parts damaged and robbed. I bought it as a frame so any salvageable parts I can re-use are a bonus. I'd be surprised if any of them are original.
Removing some of the overpaint revealed all 8 of the Orbit name frame stickers and the 3 Reynolds stickers but I couldn't find any trace of the model name on the top tube.
The serial number under the BB is 8710528 also in marker pen on the fork steerer, so at least they match and the fork is straight.
The original paint is light silver and dark blue.
As I've been removing some of the old paint, I'm finding patches and veins of surface rust creeping under the primer. I've heard car restorers talk
about 'tin worm' and it really does look like that ...
