Question-What chain for a mid 80's Raleigh Sirocco bike ?

Hi all,

Need a replacement chain for an 80's Raleigh Bike, 12 sp.
Any suggestions, cant remember what came off it.
Would prefer something like a KMC Z8S for 6-8 sp with connecting link.

The bike is no light weight speedster so I'm not to fussed about weight.

Any recommendations please.

If by 12 speed you mean 2 x 6, you should be OK with any 3/32” chain. Unless you are expecting to give it a harsh life; racing or a long daily commute, and you are not troubled by authenticity then I wouldn’t worry too much about the quality. I bought a couple of chains with spring link thingy branded ‘Bell’ like the helmets, from Asda of all places at £4 each, made in Taiwan. I haven’t tried them yet but I am sure that they will be fine. Better chains will be available of course and you can spend up to and including a fortune if you wish!

Yeah it's basically just a case of fit whatever.

Probably want to change the freewheel as well, in which case go for a shimano hyperglide one because it shifts much nicer.
