univega bikes

As far as I can see from the pic it's a Univega Alpina 5.3. These used double butted chromoly steel. My dad had one and it was one of the best frames in its price range at the time. Univega used the same frame on all their Alpina models. The bikes themselves retailed in the UK from around £400 to about £1100 with the only difference being the components. For a chromoly frame they are quite light (about midway between Tange MTB and Tange Prestige weight-wise).
