My Clockwork BB

Dirt Disciple
I need (badly) to replace the drivetrain on my Clockwork and will end up getting a new one as I need a reliable and lasting unit for the winter commute. Only problem I have is that I am unsure as to whether the new hollowtech cranks and BB's will fit in my 93' Clockwork frame or do I have to get something different?

I am looking getting a LX or XT (possibly the RaceFace XC for £79.99 from CRC) if thats any help?

Thanks.

I'm in now way condoning the purchase of modern components for retro bikes, but...

If you were to do it then yes it would fit but it might be worth having the BB shell facing. Of all the current Shimano chainsets i'm loving SLX, and at £65 from CRC it's a bit of a bargain.

Also, CRC were doing £5 discounts on orders over £50 with the code 'FLOOD5', but that may have expired.

Where on CRC are you looking, SLX M660 = £79.99 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=28020
(£75 Merlin)

The rest from a quick look
XT 44/32/22 £89 (Merlin) £100 (CRC)
XT 48/36/26 £94 (Merlin) £115 (CRC)

LX 22/32/44 £60 (Merlin) £60 (CRC)
LX 26/36/48 n/a (Merlin) £70 (CRC)

If you are looking to LX then look at the full groupset for about £100 more than just the chainset (cheapest at Merlin that I can find, £156.70 online )

I have the LX on my clockwork and they have been fantastic- not retro  but smooth as butter and IMHO don't look to out of place.
