You could just get a grip nut or 2nut for the top. I've never done this myself but always wondered whether just adding the nuts from a threaded headset would work? You might have issues getting the top bearing cover over the threads, but as it's alloy you could remove the o-ring and screw it down, maybe even cutting a thread in it as you go, making sure it's straight of course.

You just buy the top nuts from King, either grip nut or 2 nut. Only thing to make sure of is the age of the headset, the older 1" headsets have a far deeper top section meaning modern MTB grip nut sections don't fit and you'd need to ask King for a BMX shape 2 nut.
