Identifying a Saracen?

Dirt Disciple
Hi all, I am new to this site.
I didn't actually realise I belonged here until almost every search I did for stuff kept bringing me here.

I just think of my stuff as 'my stuff'
or
'Bike stuff'
But apparently it is retro.
So I feel at home.

I mess about on a pioneer elite hybrid with various bits dragged off my old bikes
like Brahma zoom bars.
I have an old Kirk precision MTB/hybrid frame that I will be playing with (But that is for another thread.

My question:
I see that I have found the place with encyclopaedic minds.
I picked up a bike for my son for a bosh about type bike.
It is a Saracen and feels great.
I have been searching to see what it is as it reminds me of a Tufftrax a mate of mine had
around 1990.
It seems to fit similar photos but I wonder if you could help me with the best way to narrow it down?

Re:

I think your bang on with the 1990 Tufftrax vibe judging the parts and the black paint, unless its been re sprayed of course.

Re:

I am so pleased I can hardly contain myself.

What a fluke of luck.
I always liked his bike.
I liked my Jamis Diablo (smokey grey colour)
But did like his as well.
Always toyed with looking out for one.

This is the same model and year, I can hardly believe it.

I appreciate the confirmation, thanks.

Can someone help me with the seat post size of this please?
I have been searching all over the place and can't find the information.

i believe the limited editions were usually the bikes that Saracen used to rebadge at the end of a run and chuck different parts at. Like the Eigers were rebadged for Halfords.

Had one that was basically a rebadged tufftrax but with deore lx.

Hmmmm,
i bought a 26.4mm, but it isn't a 26.4mm seat post.
It is bigger than that.
Could you help me with 2 questions please?:
1) Does that mean it isn't a tufftrax?
2) How do i measure this please?
Is it possible?
I reckoned it was easier checking the size than measuring.
Is the seat post the actual size of the seatpost or the seat tube that it fits into?
If it is the actual orifice, does one measure with it kind of partially tightened?
I kind of want to say that it is about 28mm across the internal diameter of the tube.
But that is with a tape measure and with the clamp tightened up an unknown amount.
How accurate does it need to be?
