Tatty Decals. To keep or to remove.

I have a couple of bikes with original decals/stickers that are well past their best.

Wondered what the general opinion was :

To leave tatty but original.
Or
To remove and have no decals.

I'm currently not considering new stickers as the bike is not at the stage of needing painting and new decals on old paint seems wrong.

Where paint has chipped or scratched and damaged the decals I think removing them would look more tidy. Without painting, and filling, the new stickers would look a bit lumpy.

If you're not repainting leave the original decals unless the original paintwork is in pristine condition.

Depends how tatty, difficult to give an opinion without seeing them. Decals are part of a bicycle's identity and provenance so i'd tend to keep them rather than have a bike with no decals. I'm not sure if opinions will help much though as it's just personal preference.

Patinas cool

Just get some retro mint sauce /onza etc stickers and tart it up
