Anybody had first hand experience of any of the electronic shifting setups? I'm talking

Mavic Zap
Mavic Mektronic
Browning

any others?

Setup mektronic a couple of times. Worked perfect in the workshop, never used it out onthe roads.

I have tried a Mavic System a few years back . It was ok but nothing special . Quite heavy compared to normal system .

Last year on the tour de france , they had a campagnolo system which has been on trial for a while now .If pros use it on the Tour it cant be that bad . But i dont know if it is on sale yet .

Early electronic shifting were usually overcome but rain and dirt, any race teams usung them quickly dropped them.

Quick step had been experimenting with the new campag system last summer but not used it in anger although rumor has it they have had posititive results.

begs the question though,
why? :?
You need power, introduce something that needs weatherproofing etc.

Actually, a bluetooth corless gearchange!! top idea if I say so myself.
Use a small vibrating magnet/coil arrangement to provide local power/charging for shifters. Maybe need more power for mechs though.

What about the pneumatic Shimao system - "air" (?) or whatever it was called..

One set went on ebay recently but looked mighty complicated...

I know one for sale at 350 euros , brand new .

It was more for downhill If I remember well .
