Hi guys,

I'm in the process of maybe buying me a Zaskar LE bike (for about 200 euro's, is that a good price?).

Asked the bloke for the frame numbers and he came up with this (it's on the rear dropouts):

R 12964142
16

I guess this would make it "december 1996" model and 16 inch? Or am I mistaken :?:

BTW: If I buy that bike, it's very likely that my KLEIN Rascal is going up for sale... Frame only. Would there be any interest in that here? It's white now and I actually dunno what a good price would be? Dunno if I'm gonna part with that one for sure, but it just might happen (otherwise there is a chance my GF will strangle me some night in my sleep hehehe).

Cheers and thanx,

If that's for a complete bike then 200 euros very good! I recently sold a Zaskar LE frame-only from 1996 for £140.

I think you are correct re. date and size from the serial number. Here is a picture of my serial number, which I took to be March 1996, 18":

Yep, you're right with the serial numbers.

And ignore Jez, if you want a classic retro aluminium frame that is actually rideable and more than just a pretty paintjob, you'll get the GT and sell the Klein.

:)

Alllllll righty then,

Yeah it's a complete bike for 200 euro's (although it will be stripped anyway, for things I don't need). It's equipped LX/XT and the rest is pretty standard from what I saw. He thinks the bike is about 7 years old, so I guess he ain't the first owner then.

Cool, I'll see what I can work out with the guy (since he lives about 200 miles down South and I won't be there until 24th of may... hope he'll hold it for me).

Oh yeah, and I got them decals on my KLEIN last night and I must say: Looking at a white KLEIN with black decals makes me wanna keep it indeed hehehe :-) We'll see how to talk into the GF... because that white/black Rascal frame with a black Mission Control and a black Tange SwitchBlades fork looks pretty awesome... would make a great "black and white bike" 8) :)

Thanx very much you guys...
