Went racing Sunday. And while walking about before the start. A junior rider looked at my Trimble and then to my horror had never seen hydrolick V brakes  Has he called my Magura rim brakes. When we all go to the bike 'hillsde' in the sky on our retro steads. A generation will never know about such kit  What a sad day that will be.
No other retrobikers there either except silvan :D

What pees me off is 'youves' on their 99p Halfrauds full sus bikes thinking they are better than our full sus rides!

On the plus side they'll never bother to steal our old rubbish is there's a 99p halfords dual shock bike next to it!

Young bikers these days dont know the likes of Tomac,Tinker,Giove and JMC,like you said they look at the older bikes with horror and distaste,on one hand it is a shame that they dont know the colourful history of biking and where these weird and wonderful bikes came from, but on the other the less they know the better, then theyre not tempted to steal it,lol

it's like when people complain that people don't use the countryside as much as they should walking/cycling etc.

"Great" I think, leaves more room for us

It's not just the yooff.

I went into an LBS before Christmas to see about having a 'new' Hope fatso hub laced into my 217 SUP to replace the cracked one built into it.

The guy's first question........."why don't you just buy a new wheel?"

When I pointed to the matching rear on the Orange, and said that a new wheel wouldn't 'go' with the bike, he looked at me like I'd spoken to him in a foreign language.

Not been back there since.

The youth will grow to appreciate the retro movement. Not all but some.

Not unlike the high schoolers of today buying 50s and 60s muscle cars and getting high to Zeppelin and Floyd.

In the defence of 'yoofs' (whatever they are  ), when i was one i pretty much didn't care about bikes that were 15 - 20 years older than the sparkly CNC clad beauties that MBUK presented me.

Remember there is an extremely well oiled marketing machine that teaches the young to desire anything that is new and 'better'. You only really get to make your own choices as you get older.

I'm glad i'm not that young anymore, i think kids these days are starting to all be tarred with the same brush :(

I for one deserved to be tarred when I was a yoof

.....but I still liked old stuff, my first car was a '67 Beetle. (the second was a '62) 8)

Yeah, i did some stuff that would make Daily Mail readers spit out their muesli

I liked some older stuff too, came of being the youngest of four with an oldest brother 15 years my senior.
