North East, North and West Yorkshire area group proudly present......
York to beningbrough hall estate.
Date:: 23/2/2014
Location:: York racecourse (Knavesmire rd) YO23 1EX
Time:: 10:00 for 10:30 start.
Distance:: 22 miles (flat)
Terrain:: tarmac cycle paths and very quiet country lanes.
Difficulty:: 2/5
Parking is free here, if we cannot all get in there is alternative parking, also free a short distance away. I can deal with that on the day.
This ride is arguably the easiest on the calendar for 2014 and takes advantage of york city' dedicated cycleway that is a green highway across the city.
As we meet at the racecourse we are almost immediately in-loop with the track and follow the river ouse towards the city centre. York has many bridges, historic monuments and architectural wonders to muse at. We cross three of the bridges including the millenium bridge as we progress towards greener pastures and relative peace.
An italian palace in Yorkshire!
Beningbrough hall is a vast estate with working farm and visitor attractions. This is our terminus for the ride and an opportunity to relax and take in refreshments.
A lunch stop is planned that can be picked up either 40% in or 60% on return leg for food and hot drinks. The pub is the 'sidings' novelty railway attraction and in a great location.
Water proof clothing is advisable as the weather is unpredictable lately.
NO HELMET= NO RIDE.
