XTR M952 rear mech overhaul

cheers.gif
Your welcome mate.

Anyone had any experience with respraying XTR gear? Like what colour number to use for a rattle can job?

Another little heads up:

The reason I searched for this site was to find a pic of the outer plate pivot. I wanted to compare it against an after-market carbon fibre outer plate available on eBay (Seller also does CF inner plate and CF jockey wheels). From what I can tell by the pics it will fit the M952 nd possibly other (older) Shimano mechs too. I'm going to take a punt and let you know if it fits.

I have done the same.
But be aware, the tension on the springs can be high. When taking out a bolt keep the parts pressed and gently open it, because the spring will come out.
It takes a few times to fiddle with the springs to bring it back together.
If you don't have any patience, don't do it :D

I buy those kind of bolt from eithe Jersey Cycles or Toronto Cycles. They are if I'm not mistaken brothers. And they have all sorts of bolts.

These bolts are matt gold anodised, I actually wanted shiny gold to mount them in my polished Anniversary M952 edition. But they turned out matt so I mounted them in my matt grey M952. Looks very nice if I may say so.

I'll make some pics or maybe a youtube movie of doing it.
But I'm now working on overhaul pics for SID's for my website.

this is an excellent read, is there a similar one on XTR 900 rear mechs?

They're all similar, a few changes later on. But follow the Deore DX overhaul on that site for a bit more insight.
(just search RD-M650)

cheers fellas, i had a go and it looks fairly straight forward, i just don't have the grease or cleansing products so i need to stock up on those.
While i'm at it i'll grab one of those ti bolt upgrade kits (if it doesn't fit my 900 mech it'll go on my 952 mech).
