Hi,

Does any one have an old set of 960 XTR cranks they don't need and could spare for very little cash? Cosmetics not an issue but working condition is a requisite.

Cheers, James.

Re:

Hi,

Thanks for sending the link. They are way over my budget though. Looking for a kind of rough looking pair with or without rings that I can polish up over time. Budget more around the £20 mark... I may be waiting some time..

Cheers, James.

Re: XTR FC M960 cranks.

The problem you'll have is that a rough looking set will probably have rough rings and the rings are pretty specific for that chain set so are pretty expensive if you can find any. I think that set is a bargain, I had a set of these and they are very nice, so worth getting a good set.

+1

I found out about knackered XTR rings the hard way. Bespoke BCD means you cannot swap out with regular rings, and while after market spiders provide some relief for M95x, M960 doesn't have that luxury.

M960 is a lovely looking bit of kit tho IMO, and £65 for the above link looks like a good deal (depending on ring condition of course ;))!

You can get m95x spiders, have a few myself, but m960 you are stuck with.

65 pounds for that cranks are def. a good deal - especially with good rings (from what I can see in the pics.)

normally such a set of 960 cranks are more arround 100 pounds.

Hi,
Thanks for the input guys. I have had a quick look at the price of rings and yes that crankset does seem to be good value after all!how can they be so pricey?

As good as £65 sounds and probably makes more sense I on the other hand am up for playing the long game on finding a really cheap set and trawling the ads trying to find a bargain set of rings. They are definitely the best looking cranks in my opinion and one day a set will be mine....

Cheers guys.

James.
