XTR canti levers with XT V brakes?

I have some '94 XTR shifter/brake levers but due to my old MRock Shox MAG-21s being totally unservicable :( I've had to get some new forks whchi has also required a swap to V brakes.

Now I've discovered that my levers don't give enough cable pull but been told about something called "travel egents" which I've found on the Bay of E for £20 a pop. Anybody able to suggest anything else before I go spending again?

Travel agents do work to rectify the different cable pull to some extent, but you're best option is to use the correct brakes with the correct levers.

So either switch to some XTR cantis or find some XT canti specific brake levers.
Other brakes and levers will of course work as long as they are canti or V-brake specific.

Anything else will feel very spongy.

New forks don't allow cantilever brakes hence my purchase of the V's. As shifter and lever are combined I would need to change both which is a bugger.

Pretty sure you can run the shifters on there own (with out the canti leavers), you need to source some stx shifter mounts then you'll just need the v brake leavers.

Why?

No brace or space for a hanger?

No chance of running one of those force-40 widgets (or copies)?

Those are the new forks and as you can see there is no cable mount on there :-(

Like the ide of the STX shifter mount though. Not many on E-Bay though

Try a wanted add you may get lucky or try searching the sales adds, I may have some in the cave will have a look for you tomorrow.

cheers kaya

just use the ratio adjustment pulleys that are designed for this exact problem, which work perfectly and you won't have to worry about shifter mounts.
