am trying 2 put xt bottom pull front mech on ridgeback mx2 but looks like im missing something as the cable wont go under bb shell any ideas?ive been told its a cable guide

Isnt the MX2 Top Pull? hence why you dont have a cable guide? You can get a pully which can convert Bottom Pull to Top Pull. Or change Mech for a Top Pull, pictures would help,

thanks am i 2 assume then that im stuck with havin 2 clamps on the tube instead of 1?

Does your frame have the cable guides to route the front mech cable along the top tube, and then down the seat tube? if so you should get a top pull front mech.
If you have to route the front mech cable along the down tube there should be a plastic cable guide, or at least a screw hole under the bottom bracket so you can fit one, then the cable can go under the bottom bracket and you can use the bottom-pull front mech.

i have a top pull on there now the problem is the cable sticks out the side thats why i got a bottom pull as well 2 eliminate it. going on wot youve said i think i need to check the frame again
but either way all is not lost and should be an easy remedy to get to sorted what ever route you take

tried that no joy so if i stay with the top pull how do i get the cable behind the downtube as it cums down the tube and then goes out 2 the right if you were looking from rear. will try and get pics up 2moro.
