I'm after an 860 mech for an old alan road bike i'm putting together. does anyone have one spare? it's the last piece of the puzzle!

ps. does anyone know if a mavic clamp on mech will actually FIT an old alan bike with thin tubes!

Ooh that is nice. Echoes my Alan cross bike with later Mavic kit.

I have a spare front mech but it's not clampon and slightly later graphic. If you can find a band-on adapter it might be worth condsidering....

And for the record - the band on type fitting WILL fit.

would LOve an alan cross bike . found this at rowlands castle cycle jumble a few weeks back. it's really nice to ride and i'm a smallish fella so haven't noticed any flex like wot people on tinternet say about them. Interested in your mech...I didn't even know you could get band on adaptors until saw a few yesterday on ebay...any chance of a pic/price?

It's one of these

if you have one of those spare, and you'd like to sell it then yeah, i'd defo be interested...and i'll hope to find some kind of clamp for it somewhere... loving the starfish cranks too!

Actually I have 2 spares.....

One's a plain silver one which is probably the best for your build. The other one is as pictured.

I'd forgotten I had the silver one - thought it was already sold. I'd bought it for its band-on fitting, for the one that's on my cross bike.

Can also provide a silver band-on adapter for 31,8 and some Shimano 28,6 reducers if you want them.

Pricing?
£25 posted for the silver one. A "in two minds about selling it but if the price is right" £35 for the SSC one.

The silver one is probably closer to period correct for your bike.

can i have the later ssc one ... to match the back end and go with the kind of black and silver thing i've got going on...and the clamp and spacer bits too. only if you're sure. no pressure!! :)) i know what it's like. let me know hosiescott at hotmail com, i can paypal you maybe. cheers tonnes for replying...
