WTD - external bottom bracket spacers

Due to my stupidity & lack of judgement...

I need some spacers for an external bb

Think I need 5mm as my shell is 68mm so I'm guessing its made for 73mm but will do 68 with spacers.


It's a gxp bottom bracket if that makes any difference.


So that's 5mm bb spacer please

I may be wrong but for 68 you need 3 x 2.5mm and for 73 you need 1 x 2.5mm worth of spacers

From what I can gather, gxp ones are different & require 1 x 2.5 on each side.

Just had to be strange eh!!

So I need 2 x 2.5mm going by what the instruction manual says

This is normal, but I don't have experience specifically with GXP. If it was a single 2.5 on each side it would be impossible to use e-type front mechs, BB-mounted chainguides etc on a 73mm shell. Seems very odd that they'd be that little bit different, can't see it really but I'm only theorising of course! :?

Well, it says one per side - I guess that's what instructions are for, I've often wondered... :shock:
