Hi,

I would like to fit an Xtr m951 crankset to my zaskar and am looking for a suitable Bottom Bracket to do so.

As far as i can tell It takes a 73mm cup and a 113 length spindle.

I have a bb-5500 in 68x109.5 in good working order to swap or will consider cash sales as well.

Thanks for looking

I think it only came in 112.5 or 116 length. BB she'll size, it was designed to run at 68 or 73 with spacers (or spacer/e-type mech combo). You should be able to get away with using your road version tbh. As the m95x versions are scarce, lots have been forced down that route.

Thanks for the reply,

Just to be clear, are you saying I can fit a 68mm shell bb to a 73 mm bike using spacers? Where would I get them from if so?

No.
The M95x bottom brackets are like the modern HTII bottom brackets in that they are 73mm shell from the start. You then space them out to fit on a 68mm bottom bracket.

You cannot do it the other way, making 68mm wider just doesn't work ;)

Ok,

So is there an alternative solution for fitting m95x cranksets to a 73 mm shell frame? Or is it just a case of finding a hard to find m95x unit?

Thanks

See that link I posted above ;)

To simplify. An m952 bb is 73mm end to end and it comes with spacers and is designed to fit both 68 and 73mm bb shells using a combination of the spacers.
