WTD: 7 spd compatible rear mech (doesn't have to index)

Hi,

I've just "modernised" one of my bikes slightly. Unfortunately my current rear mech can't seem to manage 7 speed, so I'm on the lookout for something that will. Shifters are friction.

I'm willing to pay up to about £20 or so. Something a little bit nice would be great (FWIW it's currently got a Shimano mix), but more than anything it needs to work well. This is my most used bike.

Anyone?

Have you tried unscrewing the H and L stop screws to widen the left to right range?

I have. Going to give it another go just in case, but I had the screw a long way out and still couldn't get onto the smallest cog...

How about a shiny Ultegra (6500) for £20 + postage.

Why not buy a new one for less than £20 Shimano Altus or similar - I use 1 it works great on 7 speed
