show us what you got. i saw this in another thread and thought id put it up seeing as no one has. pictures! i cant start you off as 1.im too cheap/skint to go to an lbs and 2. i know how to do most things myself and can get advice from someone who knows and 3. have only recently found a decentish lbs (which seem to know more than me), but i still think its expensive, before that my lbs was halfords which was well avoided until i needed that vital part. so anyway, damage, show us what they did

I don't know how to photograph mental anguish ( do these SLR cameras have that feature ? ) but I keep getting flashbacks to the old chap who loosened my chain tug that one time a year or two ago . Does anyone know of any help groups who could ease the pain ?

A well-known shop rebuilt my rear wheel with El Crappo spokes (laced tighter than a victorian corset) rather than the DT ones I specified in 1987.

I broke one in the rear wheel after 50 yards (28-spoke, so unrideable) in the ECCA 3-up TTT when riding with two superstars who went on to do the third fastest time without me.

Didn't qualify, of course, but I ended up throwing the fooked wheel at the builder on the Monday!

I must have gone to that shop to. Couple weeks ago. replaced my drive side Revolution with cheap 2 butts. Even the wife could see the difference in spokes. also added 20 gram to the wheel :x

Also BITD a shop did this to me with a ti spoke wheel

Shop ceased trading in about 1995, IIRC. Owner was a fabulous frame builder but his wheels were always done on the cheap. Relatively recently departed and much liked, hence the anonymity.

i asked to have a rear wheel trued up, and altho he is a good bloke, when i got it back, the rim was dished centred to the hub body, and not the axle.

Years ago (late 80s) a LBS bent and put a deep scratch in the long arm of my Suntour XCD 6000 rear mech, as they were trying to bend it (I sh1t you not) whilst trying to adjust the gears.

Wasn't happy about it, and rang them when I'd noticed. In fairness, they did buy me a new rear mech and put it on.

... and with me, that's the kind of customer-orientated 'our mistake - sorry -we'll sort it' attitude that will get me back there again. :P

Which I'd be on-board with, except <in the style of Mark Lamarr>THEY TRIED TO ADJUST MY GEARS BY BENDING THE MECH!</in the style of Mark Lamarr> ;-)

Needless to say I never used that LBS again...
