Are these drop outs worn ?

Problem i had with a certain QR was that under pedal or braking, the rear wheel would move and rub the chain stay. Appears to be "solved" by using different QR and keeping them tight.

Any ideas ??

Is the hub correctly spaced for the frame?

Is the axle missing a spacer or something as it doesn't look like the axle is "penetrating" the dropout enough :?

The hubs are shimano m765 ?
Used on another frame all right.

it may not be the best pic to be fair, he's another.

What kind of frame is it??? Looks to me like the axle is too small for the frame... Is it the same on both sides, or just the drive side???

frame is my m2 stumpy.

would the axle have to be just short of the drop-out, so the QR clamps onto the frame rather than the axle. ok it does need to be only just short.

there is a little "spring" in the rear triangle, that is taken up when the QR is clamped. what you see in the first pic is the male end of the QR just poking through the axle.
the wheel only moved with one type of QR,it was ok with the golden one shown.
It could be the other QR did not provided enough clamping and the gold one does. or should that not matter ?
the wheels have been on 2 other bikes with no issues .

Your pictures look very familiar: I'm sure the same problem has come up here before - within the last year or two.

The problem is that the skewer has to bite on an uneven surface - the heads of the two steel bolts that attach the derailleur hanger, and the steel inner face of the dropout, standing proud of the surrounding aluminium. Combined with the forward slope of the dropout slot, you've got a recipe for axle movement.

If I were you, I'd switch to a Shimano quick release and do it up good and tight. Many aftermarket skewers are lighter than Shimano, but they don't clamp as tightly, and that can cause problems in non-vertical dropouts.

Gents, thanks. That appears to sum it up.

The qr's that i had trouble with tick all those boxes mentioned on sheldon browns site. And thoseightweight qr's did not have any steel pieces (like washers) to bite into the frame/dropout. The ones im currently using do.

Good so it does not sound like worn dropouts, just a poor use of qr
