Women's Frames ?

I am sort of in the process of thinking to find a bike for my cousin's partner as a surprise gift and size ways, I am clueless as to what size or type of bike will fit. I know for certain she does not wear skirts, so the step through frame is out and am looking at diamond frames as they are at least a little bit serious, so what is there in retro bikes that might be suitable for a woman to ride? What should I be looking for in terms of geometry and size, any names out there that did unisex frames ?

She has the old Raleigh Attitude at the moment, the one I used before I got my Saracen on the road, but the Raleigh is too big for her stature, she founfd my Saracen better, no doubt due to the sloping top tube and low seat tube.

My wife gets on very well with a steel Kona - plenty of small frame sizes in the range, and with a shorter and risey stem it works well.

I'd avoid something like a mid 1990s steel Marin - too long in the top tube.

i have access to a very small 93 fire mountain and a 17" explosive from the same year. both in pretty good nick. can get some pice next wednesday if you like?
