Winter gloves

Anyone have any recommendations? My old Alturas seem to have lost their potency since last winter, and I'm typing this with my toes. What are the toastiest gloves around?
Ta, Nick.

Regular non-summer gloves plus a pair of dispoable laytex gloves inside and carry a bar of soap....you'll be toasty but your hands will soon smell like your feet.

my mate tried that and ended up with huge blisters

i've got a pair of specialised neoprene 2 fingered mitts, and they have waterproof over mitt covers 8)
Toasty warm even when wringing wet

I wear a pair of Oxford Products motorcycle inner gloves inside either a pair of ski gloves or my motorbike gloves when it's v cold. If you're going down the ski glove route get something goretex, it's worth it.

Mittens are warmer than gloves for the same reason that 2 people feel warmer in the same sleeping bag vs. in separate sleeping bags (ok get your minds out of the gutter). But mittens don't allow you to hold the handlebar and brake at the same time. Thus this solution. I have a pair from 1994 that I still wear and much warmer than any other pair of gloves I've tried. They are, admitedly, a little odd looking but people don't usually notice until you point it out to them.
