Window shoppers! Cool good value 27.0 seat posts?

If there are any bike shops near by see if the 27.2 fits from there (if you friend does not have one) clean and degrease you seat tube first, also since the clamp part are now slightly bent (iirc from the photos) bend them out a little bit, maybe a large screwdriver between them and give them a nudge.

Anyway I had a look for you and haveing no idea about Canadian stores
http://www.teamcyclist.com/store/Ritche ... 1C1124.cfm do it in 27.0 x 400mm size.
Have no idea of the quality of the post either, but being ritchey it's not going to be crap.

I used a Tioga T-Bone 6061 seatpost for about 18months before the clamp sheared at the front whilst riding. Luckily the "boys" weren't injured but I wouldn't buy another.

Could have just been bad luck :?

I replaced it with a Thomson.

Thanks again, hmm still not a lot wiser, see i thought, call me mad but i thought the more modern USE posts were 27.0 to start with rather than 25.0, but only one I have spotted is the SX suspension post... hmm

Oh and I tried the 27.2 from my commuter and no go, not all teh same, you might have luck but as a rule it is typically not a good idea, see if one fits without forcing and go from there. I think I trialed a 26.8 for a while didn't even realise it was smaller!

i a got a hold of a 27.2mm post and it does fit. had to pry a little on the clamp with a screwdriver as recommended to loosen it back up a little from being overclamped with the smaller seatpost all those years.

however inserting either the 26.8 or 27.2, it seems to get stuck part way down, before getting anywhere near the first watercage bolt. i'm guessing maybe the prestige tubing starts to oval part way down? can someone confirm this?

i'm guessing i'll need two seatposts, one for myself which would be long, and a much shorter one with my wife's saddle. being able to fit 27.2 makes it a much easier/cheaper task than having to keep to 27.0.

The old Kona's with a thumbwheel came in 27.0 and the Salsa Shaft originally came in 27.0 as well as 27.2. Got one from the states and used it in an Explosif.

I have a U.S.E post bought of Ebay that i'am selling. Its black with the alien head.Is in fact 25.0 with a shim to take it up to 27.0.Wanting £30 posted for it.
Thanx Max
