Retro Newbie
*Wheels are Sold*

White Industries - Mavic 26" Wheels 32H hubs 8/9 speed.
Not sure which Mavic rims as stickers are removed. I believe they are 221 or 222 Mavics. They are steel grey as shown here on this Mavic Rim finishes page...

History of wheels - Purchased used in 1999, so not sure of prior history. My buddy worked for Yeti Cycles when they were still in Durango. I purchased these from another friend of his that worked with him at Yeti. The front wheel had a broken spoke thus requiring the rebuild I had done in Northern California. These ended up going on my brother's bike for a very short time and not being ridden much at all.

Both hubs spin smoothly with no play. Front hub does feel a tad "dry" however.
I threw both wheels on my Park truing stand and they both spin pretty darn true. There are a few nicks on the upper rim surface on the rear wheel (see picture below)

Rear Wheel/Rim - laced with DT spokes. Appear to be straight gauge. Not sure on nipples but assume brass. There are a few nicks on the upper rim surface. Please see attached pictures

Front wheel/rim - I had this wheel rebuilt long ago at Mike's Bikes or Wheelsmiths in Menlo Park, CA. I can't find the receipt but they were rebuilt with Wheelsmith butted spokes. Can't recall the nipples but once again I think brass nipples on this one as well

$195 USD OBO

what would be the deal with sending them to the uk? is it even viable?

I went to the USPS website (http://postcalc.usps.gov/) to calculate shipping for a 30"L x 24" H x 10" W box at 12 lbs and it is providing a cost for Priority Mail International (6-10 business days delivery to the UK) of $62.35 USD (or $59.23 if I purchase the postage online), so not crazy expensive. This doesn't include any insurance charge but I can't imagine that is too much extra. If you are truly interested provide me with your delivery post/zip code and I can box them up and go down to my local US Post Office and confirm those charges are indeed accurate.

Thanks for finding out. I really do like the wheels and I have the funds its just the taxes being unclear are stopping me from saying I'll have them (the laws are clear as mud). so for now i will say its a no for me until I can talk to someone that has delt with it all before. sorry for any inconvenience.

No problem at all! I understand and I'm a bit unsure of any potential customs fees/taxes myself. I have a buyer in Alaska that wants them so it does look like they are sold. Thanks again!
