Wheel spindle sizes

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a new rear spindle for my Peugeot. It's a 126mm hub.
Do I just measure my current spindle end to end?
I see most spindles are offered as 145, 150, or 155mm but it looks mine is substantially longer. Is there a specific way to measure it, or is it simply its length, end to end?

Cheers

You need the OLN length plus most of the dropout thickness - so 126mm + 2x5mm = 135mm. Most QRs have recesses in them to take up a little extra length.
If you can't get them tight you may need to saw the tip off. Make sure you do this with a cone on the axle and then undo it after sawing and filing the end - it will clean the thread up.

That will do. Try to use the existing cones as the aftermarket ones may not have the right curvature (or sealing detail).

You can always take a hacksaw to it.
