What travel suspension forks can I get away with?

Hope someone can help. I've got a '96 Gary Fisher Mt Tam but would like to replace the Judy Forks. I think they've got 65mm of travel. What length travel fork do you reckon I can get away with? Also, as the Mt Tam has a 1 1/4 inch headset, does anyone know where I can get a headset reducer from? Any help welcome.

What were you thinking of getting then? I nice old set of SIDs would be perfect.. 63mm or 80mm..

Maybe think about a Chris King Devolution Headset?

Thanks for the advice/links - I will be sellling the forks once I manage to get hold of a new(er) pair.

I'm not sure what's out there? As 80mm seems about right then Rock Shox SIDs or ideally Rock Shox Dukes might suit. Ideally need V brake mounts but want to upgrade to a front disc sometime soon...

You should be alright with disc mounts being on nearly all forks.. It's the canti stalks that are getting harder to find!
