Hi knowledgeable folks.

As per the title, does anyone know what travel the sus forks that came with that era of M2 frame were? (mainly manitou's I think).
I have read everything from 53mm, to 80mm as the frame was sus adjusted and I'd just like a definitive answer if there is one!!
My folks can be set for 80mm or 100mm travel so obviously I'd set at 80mm, but I want to know if that is still gonna be waaay off. A little off I can handle ;-)

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Reckon you will be fine with 80mm, my 98 M2 has always had them and its as good as gold.
Think they might have had 70mm originally so 100mm would be pushing it a bit especially if they had a longer axle to crown like Marzocchi's

Hi Ben

Hi Ben
The 97 S works came with a manitou SX Ti fork, so yeah, any 80mm would work as per the frame design.
The 97 was the M2 XX updated to take modern (at the time) forks of 80mm or so. My 96 is M2X and was for the slightly shorter forks but so saying it takes an 80mm no problems.
I dont have the dealer book for that year but I have the brochure if you want me to scan the pages. Yours was the green if I recall?
Let me know
Jamie

No, mine is the Blue-mislabeled-stumpy-thats-actually-an-s-works-that-was-originally-red-so-was-probably-a-Team. !

But a Scan would be great if you can find the time Jamie.
Thanks very much for your answers chaps 8)
