What the? ebay wierdness

How come I just placed a bid on something at £6.24, but I've been outbid, and the price is £3.99?

What the hell's going on here?

maybe because there was a higher bid before you, but your bid was lower than the high bid.
maybe the high bid could for example be £25. and until you bid over £25.
you will be outbid. hope this explains it.
if i'm wrong, sorry.

but the price didn't change and my bid was higher than the current price.

I've never in all my time using ebay put in a bid for something and be told I've been outbid but the price stay unchanged and lower then my highest bid.

Am I having a senior moment or does this seem odd to anyone else?

Very wierd, now I have this message in red text in myebay:

Some of your information is not available at this time. Please try again later.

And the item in question has disappeared both from my watch list and my bidding on list too. WTF is going on with that?

I've searched the item and get this when I click the auction:

All other auctions open fine

I've had this when the seller has increased the start price above my max bid. All trace of the bid disappeared.

Stating the obvious I know but probably cut a deal outside of ebay

wierdly now I look back a few hours later, it has somehow sorted itself and I won it!!
