What size seatpost for 1991 Monster Fat?

My frame fork and stem are currently getting painted, so i can't measure my frame, and i see a couple of nice XC pro posts on eBay. So if anybody knows the size, i would greatly appreciate it.

Monster seat post size

26.4mm would be a good start.
Im under the impression that there were 3 generations of Monster.
One was a Wicked with wishbone seat stays, so 26.4mm.
One was Yo based so 29.4mm.
Im afraid my memory fails me on the 3rd type but Fatcogs.com would be a good place to ask around.

Thanks! It seems to have yo geometry, but it definitely doesn't have a 29.4 post.

The '91 is 26.4. A rather hard size to find something nice, long, and period-specific in, unfortunately.

A few to look for might be Syncros, Suntour, Nitto, Ritchey, IRD....

I've noticed that. There is a 26.6 xc pro post on ebay. I'm tempted to get it, and take sandpaper and steel wool to it, til i can make it fit.

Hm. Suntour posts are pretty overbuilt---that might work if you can make your sanding uniform to .2mm all the way around the post. Sounds like a feat, but I'd be glad to see it work!

my cousin has a metal lathe, if i can mount it properly, i can probably do it nice and even.

Good luck! Another alternative would be to shim up a BMX post.

yeah, i was thinking of that as well, unfortunately they are not as long, which could create an issue considering i have a medium, and really need a large.
