What is the most innovative bike bodge you've ever done?

As it says in the title, the one rule being that the bodge had to work.

My contribution: I broke the poploc on the fork lockout of the Whyte. (apologies for modern content!) Couldn't get to the shops to see if anyone has one in stock, so have used a SRAM left side twist grip... and it works.

Have also learned that the amount of cable the fork lockout uses is the same amount as used by a SRAM twist grip to get from granny ring to big ring!

 That was lucky it just moved the right amount

Hows that phrase go?
Emergency breeds the second cousin of bodging :? or something like that.

I used an RS quadra threaded steerer with an ahead headset and stem
Worked well for six months till i changed the fork to an ahead one.

Not sure id try that again

Puncture miles from home, had pump but no patches, so used leaves. Lots of leaves.

Worked but made a right mess.

Used a jubilee clip to bodge an endless band for a DX front mech on which the original was too big.

Worked really well, actually!

ive used a small cable tie to hold my jocky wheel in place after loosing the bolt out riding, the whole jocky wheel fell out with spacers going every where and i found it all apart from the bolt  but the cable te worked very well and lasted the rest of the ride :D

i made a mech hanger bolt after one decided to 'break-away' out of a brembo mo'bike banjo bolt and copper washers. still in regular use now.

Ahead top cap out of a coin with a hole drilled in it. This was back in the days when Ahead was totally new and top caps were putty-like plastic and unavailable as a spare part.

That solution lasted me 2 years until aftermarket top caps became available.

Once mended a puncture with a sticky boiled sweet and a piece of polythene bag. It worked fine so I forgot about it until I had to repair the next puncture, months later.

cant think of any bodges myself , i put together bikes properly so dont have to really fix through necessity

a mate did fix a broken top cap on some stratos mx6 forks with a 2p . was a bit unnerving riding it expecting to get a spring in the face

also seen a rear shock replaced with a bit of steel bar . thinking about it that was my suggestion  one of the ratty kids that always seem to hang around when you ride in one place had a shonky full suss in the late 90s when jump hardtails were getting popular and he wanted it to be rigid so i just said replace the shock with a bit of bar off the cuff and days later it was done

oh and ive seen some really appalling gussets over the years

oh i did once use washing up liquid in lew of proper chain lube . was fine until it rained and quickly washed away
