Most of the suspension effect is tyres anyway (how much does any frame deflect under load compared to the tyres? I wouldn't want a stiff frame specifically, but I would like one that is efficient and handles nicely. Rigidity is not just about the vertical plane, but twisting - which totally fouls up steering geometry. Pedalling action largely twists the frame.
