What frame size do I need?

Its the drop you are right, I've already moved the stem to its Max height, I think as mentioned earlier its just a little to small for me.

aye, a larger frame, even if run with a shorter stem will have a taller headtube and therefore a higher front end.

it's very fashionable to have loads of saddle to bar drop at the mo, despite the fact most people cant get comfortable with it, and hence you see the bars kicked back and the hoods pointing skywards

And I looked at that position too as my hoods are pointing up leaving a very uncomfortable position when on the drops. The frame is nice though, nimble and fast, just a bit small. I will get another Raleigh lightweight or a Peugeot though as they are my faves.

As mentioned, 'new' is incredibly upright at the budget/ mid priced as most find the traditional posture too arse up/nose down and if you are used to the more upright MTB stance, its a bit of a shock to the system.

Personally, I 'fit' anything from a 56cm frame up to a 59cm square, even a 60cm if it has a short top tube. One bike gave me such a back ache I had to stop mid ride. I moved the stem and saddle up a bit and the ache disappeared almost straight away.

I have a decent high rise 1 inch MTB/ Road 3ttt stem if you get stuck or, I have a nice 58cm frame spare if you want to go bigger.

I've just found this chart quite telling as stay position seems to answer a question as to why one frame I have is next to bloody useless for me due to its shape rather than size. Long body and short arms make road bikes a bit awkward for me when trying to get it right.

then theres:

all size guides seem to show the same:

That chart would put me as Mr Average I think with a height of 5 10 and a inseam of 32, a 57cm frame would be bang on right. I must be the same sort of dimensions as cce, where as Mattr probably has shorter legs and a long body so can drop a frame size to 54cm.
I am going to go for a 57cm frame, just got to choose a bike now, might make an offer for the 531c Raleigh I have seen.

I'm actually a little short in the leg. But I am also woefully inflexible, so getting down to a low front just doesn't happen
