What crank lengths do you run?

ive got 180 on my cindercone and 175 on my explosif and i cant really say i notice the difference. orthough i do tend to knock the peddles more with the longer 180. i got the 180 thinking more length more leverage, but im not shue it works like that :?

I am 6' tall with a 33" inseam and I use 180mm cranks in the dirt and 175mm on the road. I feel that I have more power with the long cranks for the nasty, extra steep pitches in the dirt. When I get on the road with the shorter cranks my RPM's go up and I feel like spinning a lot more, which is easier to do on the road. If you have a long enough leg, the longer cranks give more leverage, thus more power albeit at a lower RPM.

170's on road and off road.

I've owned quite a few bikes and a few more cranks and they have all been 170. I kind of assumed that was standard for non track bikes. It appears not from this thread. :?

Edit - 5 foot 11 and 32 inside leg if that helps - I also ride fairly large bikes, 19 inch off road and around 23 inch road.

I'm 6ft 2 and I ran mostly 175s off road because that's stadard MTB issue. But recently after hanging out in 29er and singlespeed fora I have acquired 2 sets of 180's to give it a try. And I think it does give more leverage, and I like it. I also feel the bigger circle effect at the top of the stroke, so I know when I ride them.

That said I still ride 175's in the mix, 35 miles this morning in fact, and that worked fine.

Enjoy!!

32" inseam and prefer 172.5s. I have ridden, on occasion, 170's, and have a number of 175's. However, if given my choice: 172.5.
