Got XTR M951 cranks onto an XTR M952 BB, just wondering what crank bolts i will need ? or are they all universal ? sorry for the dunce question but its my first build

Also will i need to buy caps to hide the bolts ? if so any reccomendations on which of them to buy ?

thanks guys

You'll need self extracting ones, the bolt goes in first and you screw the self extracting collar over the top. Simply fit to bb and tighten up the bolt. As for size, not sure, but I did the above today in the hope that it is my bolts and not cranks that are ill.

thanks Ian,

i think these are the fellas then ? just not sure whether i need M8 or M15 size ?

isis crank bolts which also fit M950series.

they dont appear to have a thread on the black bit though, like the ones i posted above

does that not matter ?

the black part is required for removing the cranks. not needed for riding them

 now i am confused

The black bits from the picture above are to enable you to remove the cranks without needing a separate crank extractor to pull the cranks off the BB spindle.

The rest of the time, they look pretty.
