I had a Verso for a while and quite liked it. It was the 2.2 TDi though so had a lot of torque. You hardly ever found yourself using first gear! It was certainly well nailed together and had clever rear seats. I could never get rid of the thought that the rear fold up seats were basically in the car's crumple zone though but that is the case of all of them.
With the seats down (standard five seat set up) the load space was OK but not as good as say a Focus estate.
