In 1988 I had a Cannondale SM600. It had a horrible, cheap headset. I decided to put on the best mtb headset I could find, and that pointed to Campag Centaur. Beautiful thing. And once fitted, it was clear that the stack height was too great for the steerer. Which meant a new fork. Or a fork reamed out by Swallow and a new steerer inserted. Who put in a lovely Reynolds steerer which got damaged on its way to me. It just went on and on....one of those jobs which seemed like a good idea at the time, and then turns into a huge PITA.
Anyway.....
The stem I used had an integrated cable stop, So I put the plastic hanger which came with the Centaur into the Random Brake Parts box. It’s lived there, new and unused, for 32 years. I do find it occasionally, and remember the Teal Blue of the Cannondale. And put it back in the box. I am NEVER going to use it. So if someone has been searching for one, here it is. Karma. Just pay the postage to where you are.....
