Weinmann 750 or 730 calipers + levers

I'm after some long reach calipers for a 27" to 700c conversion. I'd prefer 750 centre-pulls but could happily go for 730 side pulls. Levers: drilled would be nice but not essential. Hoods would be great, gum hoods even better.

*** Now with pics! ***
Got a nice pair of drilled (+1) Weinmann levers (would be early '80s), good condition...
but no hoods (-1, so even odds, so to speak) - they were completely knackered, gum had turned into something resembling pudding crumble.
I bought some generic new white ones (Dia Compe i think...), would include those.
Will take some pics tonight, how does £25 posted sound?

NB: Attached to Sakae bars and a 'NoIdea' brand stem also for sale.

cheers
Richard

Re:

Cheers, brake levers look interesting- better quality than the other weinmanns I've seen.

I thought I was sorted for handlebars but set I got off eBay turned out to be narrower than advertised. What size are the sakae ctc? Are they road champions?

Hey @nonowt, almost certain they are.
Also (as far as I can recall) are in good shape - no nasty scratches across the engraving, etc. I'll measure them up this evening. Whereabouts (roughly) are you based, might be able to save postage. Am in the Reading / Oxford corridor (not sure that's actually a thing). Happy to do a deal on the lot :-)
cheers

they look like Weinmann Carreras, which were pro team issue.
Hoods are probably Campag record shapre rather than the cheap weinmann ones.

to the OP - I'd avoid the 730 sidepulls, unless you're doing fairly low speed riding on flatlands

Re:

Have had a look at the bars, pics with a tape measure here now :-)
The previous owner has had a go at the (facing me) left side, looks like trying to clean up scratches. Didn’t really take much notice but have tried to show in the pic.
If I was going to run these I think I clean it up a bit more around the engraving so as not to loose more of that.
The other side is good.

Re: Re:

Cheers for the info on the levers, not come across these before.
I've 730 longarm sidepulls on a single speed pop-to-the-shops bike. Would use them any anything quick!

Cheers for the advice re the 730s. There for my wet weather commuter so stopping could be important. i'll go with the centre-pulls and some decent pads.

I love a drilled lever some i'll take those please, Richard. PM me your payment details and i'll paypal gift you the cash. I'll pass on the Road Champs as i was after something 42 ctc, thanks though.

I'm in East London, so the wrong side for easy access to the famed Reading-Oxford corridor I'm afraid, so they'll have to be posted.

cheers

Re: Centre pull brakes

I have a set of centre pull brake calipers, with straddle wires. All cleaned up nicely with no corrosion.
Weinmann 750 rear (long reach) condition 8.5/10
Dia Compe Gran Compe front (slightly shorter reach but may do) condition 9/10, similar to
http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx? ... AbsPos=165
No brake blocks or pads, but from experience, I'd fit Aztec or similar - much better than the originals.
£12 the pair + £3 postage. Pm me if interested. Can send photos if you let me have your e-mail address.
