Well, to be honest, Friday Baiku as it was my wedding anniversary on Saturday so no 2 wheeled activities over the weekend :(

Open the curtains to blue sky and sun, this never happens when I have a day off….pack kids off to school and wife off to work and step outside to my shed….wow, its WARM out today  ….squeeze back tyre of Avalanche and it’s a little soft :x ….track pump moment and then hit the trails….this is going to be a great ride, dry trails, sunshine, everyones at work, just me and my thoughts today….an hour in and I reach Bardney Woods….blast the singletrack and the bike starts wobbling….damn it, slow puncture back :x ….mini pump moment, pfft pfft pfft, we’re off again….finish razzing the woods and out onto the farm tracks once more….2 hours in ‘ring ring’, ‘ring ring’, ‘Hello, Mr Lee, its Branston Community College, your daughters not very well’ ….mad dash of footpaths and farm tracks for 30 mins back home to my daughter feeling very sorry for herself….ho hum, best and worst ride of my life all in one

Weekend Baiku:

Wet. The kind of wet that Gore-Tex doesn’t even pick a fight with. Wind. Wind like an air brake just grinding me down, never ceasing. Noise. Noise on the road with the relentless headwind that mountain biking rarely knows. Cold. I tell myself feeling will return to my fingers after that mechanical on exposed land. Energy. Save energy for the last leg home, still going, great feeling. Cake. As much as I can eat, which is quite much. Smile. Best ride of my life.

Rain I can live with, snow is not a problem, heat is ok, frost is fine....

....but wind, nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooo!

Hell of South Beds Baiku:

2 hours of rain and wind. Wind in my face uphill. Rain in my face downhills - freewheeling not an option, keep pedaling, keep warm. Cobbled climbs with gritted teeth and frozen toes - last hill wants to beat me. 41 miles of windy rainy muddy hilly lanes. Get home, Mrs MCK "I thought you were riding your road bike?" Best ride of my life. :D
