 :?

Do CRC deliver cash in the box too?

Only to their bank manager. They are doing so well. Some things less than trade for normal shops.

Off to buy some inner tubes

Still no response from CRC today :(

Anyway, re reading the title.

Well do you think they could just stick things like this in a small jiffy bag instead..

Really it's not wasteful. Jiffy bags still take up extra space and they cannot be put in the bin to be recycled.
There is actually very little packaging used compared to a jiffy bag. Though a smaller box could often be used.

Highlights in the video include our sophisticated warehouse management system and brand new packaging machine which has reduced the amount of postal lorries we use by 30%.
Which is a massive saving in costs for CRC & hopefully those reductions are passed on to it's customers, oh and the environment has 30% less lorries from just one company driving around to deliver your bike bits.

So to save 30% of their postal road transport I really don't mind larger packaging, or having to ride down to the sorting office to get my parts

Oh, if you don't like the packaging why not try going to your local bike shop. You won't get any excess packaging there ;)

2 day s later I order some Fork oil (500ml) from them. It turned up the same day ( a bit later) in a jiffy bag.

Surely if you ordered "fork oil" from them, there wouldn't be any need to send a parcel of any sort?

I'll get me coat.

On a serious note, doesn't look as though the CRC packaging issue has changed. Even the pair of shoes I bought from them last autumn came in a box way bigger than a shoe box. True, a cardboard box might be more recycling-compatible than a Jiffy envelope, but Jiffy envelopes have better potential for re-use if you do a lot of eBaying etc.
