Vintage worn rims with modern disc hubs

I have a pair of Sun CR17's that the brake surface is well worn, probably not safe to use rims with brakes. Would it OK to use them with disc hubs? Is this a bad idea?

The main risk of any worn rim is that it breaks off, causing the tyre to deflate and detach itself. If the rims were that dodgy I wouldn't use them.

what he said if very worn ... it will look crap plus unneceasssry weight, other than that, no reason why you cannot use rim brakes with a disc hub.

I had a pair of wheels with heavy rim brake use but also were disc ready. I rode disc...after a while the rear rim split presumably under the tyre/tube pressure. Buy new rims
