As the missus and I barely have time to ride our bikes, the least ridden are for sale... here's a real gem!
1972 Velo Schuaff tandem in original metallic Mercedes green. It's mostly in original spec based on the research I did when I stripped and restored it in 2010. It's in lovely condition now, and I'm really glad we didn't get it resprayed as we had originally planned. We bought it without a front wheel, rack, dymano, kickstand and mudguards so I found suitable replacements.
As any tandem couple will testify, it's an absolute hoot to ride together (though we're sometimes only getting 2 gears out of the 3 speed hub) and it really turns heads, especially when the captain picks the stoker up from the shops! While grinning from ear to ear we've noticed that traffic give you quite a wide berth, which is especially good on this with it's fairly weak brakes. If riding it in the wet I'd consider fitting the best pads you can afford, but there's no problem stopping in the dry at least, you just ride it like a fixed with brakes when it comes to scrubbing speed and pulling to a standstill. I split the controls so the stoker has the rear brake and gear shifting, while the captain steers and controls the front brake. This would be easily converted back to traditional set-up but it worked really well for us. It's also nice having the stoker do the indicating and once you get the hang of it you can really power off from a standstill and up to 20-25mph in no time! Regardless, just remember to communicate with each other!
It's done less than 100 miles since complete overhaul and is good to go!
