V Brake set up query.

Having a bit of an issue with some V brakes.

Bike originally had Cantis. I have replaced them with Shimano V's and fitted levers compatible with V brakes.

However, I can't seem to get enough pull from the cable.

Looking at the set on my Rockhopper the Deore V arms are straight but the set i am fitting the top of the arms curves out.

Am I missing something

You need to swap the washers round on the pads.
There's a thick one and a thin one.
The arms should be near vertical when they touch the rims.

There's occasionally an issue with narrow boss spacing and wide Rims. Always surmountable.

If you're still struggling, send a photo of the cable mounted in the lever, and the pad spacing setup.

I'd look at the spring adjusters on each arm too to pull them closer to the wheel alongside the washers on the pads.
