upgrade old campag chainset/cassette

Hi, I have specialized mworks 95 full campag record, I would like to look at upgrading the chainset. Two reasons the cassette range is tight and I live amongst many large hills and I recently noticed that the rh crank clearly had a problem at one stage and was replaced with a shimano. I can see I can get campag 8 speed cassette still, will it fit easily with the older hubs? Hopefully enough detail to get some form of answer?

The 8 speed cassette is fully compatible and should fit no trouble. The only thing to be careful about is that it should not be fitted to later 9/10/11 speed hubs with the deeper splines and alloy body as it will cut into the freehub with use.

As for chainsets, there are plenty of compacts available (110 pcd) which will take an inner down to 34T. Most people seem to run 34/50.
