Yes indeed, they ride as awfully as they look. I had the distinctly un-pleasurable experience of owning one these

Horrified? They did it to themselves!
The people at Raleigh were responsible for numerous BSO abominations: Ill-conceived, over-weight, under-specced, and a genuine deterrent to the uptake of cycling in the UK for many years.
Good riddance.

But yes, this is a vile waste of natural resources, and very far removed from the unbeatable efficiency and perfection of the diamond-framed bicycle.
