Hi guys (again)

Looking at tyres for my CB Canyon and not sure what to really go for..
It's gonna be a rider so want something that will handle the mud and gravel of the South Downs. I'd like amber walls given it's a 1985 bike, but guess there not that easy to find. I think it has Kenda on at the minute. Was thinking of something all-rounder, Conti Explorers maybe? :? (I just did a best all rounder google search and they came up) I know not retro looking so anything else that would do the job you could reccomend would be great.
Also, and excuse my MTB naivety (I'm a roadie!) would I go for a different size on the back? Or just get both the same..

Help appreciated :D

If your happy to run mordern rubber, I use Maxxis High Roller in 2.1 width front and rear and they were abig improvement over the OEM tyres on my Prophet. They always used to do well in the magazine group tests.

Another one to consider would be Kenda Nevegals, also do well in mag tests.

If you fancy something which is a bit quicker over the ground, try Maxxis Ardent. Again does well in the all rounder bracket.

You may have already looked but www.bikeradar.com does reviews of most well know gear.

Hope that helps.

IRC Mythos XC FK 26 x 1.95 skinwall tyre

on the above website under ATB tyres second page I think.

Look the part, and cheap!! 2 for £10!!

Run those on my Muddyfox, they work well and look the part.

Carl.

Conti Explorers, I've been using them this year and I've found them great over most of it, but last time I went out it chucked it down and all our trials where very muddy. It was 'ok' for most of it as long as it was gentle riding.
But didn't grip to much in the wide muddy sections, more than likely due to the small tread depth.

I have Panaracer Mud Pro's but while they are good in the thick mud, for everything else they are not comfy and skitty.

I'm thinking of trying some Panaracer Trailrakers, them seem to look the part and review well for this sort of thing.

Though may just get smoke/dart combo.

i had the same question to ask so interesting to read peoples views.
Don't suppose anyone has the pair of 2.35 z maxs i got rid off BITD in their garage? Or Ned, if your reading, I read you had a lifetime supply of ground controls - sort us out!

Anyone though of painting the sidewalls? I have a 2.35 tioga I might have a go at... or is this just wrong?
