Two-tone powder coating

I have been looking at getting my frame powder coated, and one place I spoke to said they could do a two-tone fade. He didn't have any examples to show me, but assured me that it works (the place is Cycles In Motion in Sheffield - anyone used them?)

I was wondering has anyone seen examples of fading powder coating, and what kind of finish do you get?

Thanks

Re:

Have a look at my first retro re-build a 1991 Al-Mega DX which was a green and white powder fade. It's very hard to do and takes a lot of time, but the result can be ace.

Re:

The ones I've seen haven't been as neat as a 2-tone paint job, but it can be done.

funnily enough I remember seeing an Alpinestars belonging to member Marctwo-tone that had this piwdercoat effect done to it, but then the decals did cover up a lot of the fade between colours, still looked good though.

Re:

Two tone fade is easier than abrupt changes when I asked around, mainly as you get the spray over that can cause the fade. Some talent to do it 'properly' though.

Yorvik http://www.yorvik-es.co.uk/powder.html said they could do either, which is better than anyone else I tried could do.

LSN in Castleford used by marc-two-tone and a few around the region could not do them abrupt junctions, though could do a fade iirc.

The finish I would guess would depend on how well they can do it, what they use, how they prep it etc.

Thanks for the replies. The Al-Mega looks good!

I'll try and get some samples from the people who say they can do it, or ask them to let me know when they do a fade for a customer so I can go and have a look. At least that way I'll know what I'll be getting, rather than have a nasty shock once it's been done. Or a pleasant surprise!

Cheers
