Lazy days, so I decided to fix my old pair of Tune big foot cranks.. had forgotten to tighten the chainring bolts and managed to crack the spider.. bugger! anyhow I wanted to do something nice and smutt for my weight weenie singlespeed build.. this is how I did it.. I removed the spider from the crank.. it's threaded clockwise.. then I used a angle grinder to take off the outer part of the spider.. looked something like this
1. Förbaskat! :x
------------
2. Tiny spider
-------------
3. Mounting the spider back on.. heavy work, neeee
---------------------------------------------
4. A lot of filing, fitting on and off, and of course swearing
5. Finished extra light ss crankset
-------------------------------
Most time consuming part was fitting the chainring.. had to do some filing on both ring and bolts.. ready product - Tune big foot cranks with tiny spider, middleburn 26 ring and alloy bolts - 419 grams.. as you can see only 4 bolts are actually holding the chainring.. 5th was impossible to screw in.. if I were to put the chainring on the inside of the spider there would have been no problem fitting the ring, but I think it looks cooler like this
how it works..? haha.. have no idea.. was thinking about riding 26-12
